Indoor Air Pollution
When you think of air pollution, you probably think of things like smog, power plants and emissions from cars and trucks. Those are all examples of outdoor air pollution, but air indoors can be polluted, too. Pollutants are any harmful contaminants in the air; therefore, indoor air pollution is when pollutants from things such as gases and particles contaminate the air indoors.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) today the indoor air pollution is a very real and dangerous thing because indoor air is far more concentrated with pollutants than outdoor air. Human Beings are living in the scarceness of proper indoor environment. Over 6.5 billion people cook and heat their homes using solid fuels; such unhealthy cooking methods and heating practices produce high levels of household (indoor) air pollution which includes a range of health damaging pollutants such as fine particles and carbon monoxide. Exposure is particularly high among women and young children, who spend the most time near the domestic hearth. According to WHO, 4.3 million people a year die from the exposure to household air pollution.
